About Buckner-Ragsdales
C.M BUckner purchased the property in 1916 from L.B. Houck after a fire destroyed several businesses in the downtown district. Buckner was the first businessman to start the revitalization of the district after the fire. Buckner-Ragsdales in Cape Girardeau was one of eight chain clothing stores located in Missouri and the most popular store in Southeast Missouri. The Cape Girardeau Business College was also located upstairs.
